Hepworth
The talented young player takes on the principal cornet role with the Yorkshire champion

The Hepworth Band has announced the appointment of Oliver Tattersall as its new principal cornet.

The 17 year old National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain player will make his debut with the Yorkshire Area Champion at the Grand Shield in Birmingham in May.

Product

A product of Rochdale Music Services and the Junior RNCM where he now studies, he has enjoyed tenures with BMP Europe Goodshaw Band, and with family members at Whitworth Vale & Healey with whom he played at this year's North West Regional Championships.

The Denis Wick Young Ambassador, who has also enjoyed playing with both the National Childrens Band and National Youth Band of Great Britain said that he was excited about taking on the role.

"I'm looking forward to progressing further at Hepworth Band and to be sat amongst some great players, as well as competing against some of the best bands in the world in what looks set to be an exciting 2026!"

Welcome

In welcoming him to the band, MD, Ryan Watkins added: "Oliver is one of the most exciting young musicians I've had the pleasure to listen to.

His talent and work ethic are remarkably impressive for his age, and I'm excited to see him continue his development within the Hepworth team, who have a proven track record of nurturing young musicians with exceptional potential."
