The musical partnership between Nailsworth Silver Band and Musical Director Anri Adachi is due to come to an end after this year's West of England Regional Championships in Torquay.
It will mark the final chord of a highly successful six year tenure — one that has seen the partnership rise from the Fourth Section to First Section accompanied by Area and National title success along the way.
Victories
Appointed in 2019, her first contest at the helm saw the Gloucestershire band claim the West of England Fourth Section Area title, going on to secure the National title later in the year.
Promotion followed with a second National Final appearance in 2024 in the Third Section where they came sixth, whilst they qualified for a third time in 2025 in the Second Section.
Future
Away from the contest stage, she also led the band on two memorable tours to France as well as developing concerts audiences with acclaimed local and regional events. The future of the organisation was further enhanced with the launch of the Nailsworth Academy Band.
Heavy heart
Speaking about her decision, Anri said: "It's with a heavy heart that I have made the decision. For 2 years, since I started my new job at the University of the West of England (UWE) I have been trying so hard to make it work — running around like a headless chicken and trying to be in several places at once, skipping meals and skimping on sleep — but I've finally conceded that it is the right time to bow out.
I've had the most amazing time with this incredible band, and have so much love for the people."

Excellence
A band spokesperson added: "Anri's tenure has been hugely successful and added many 'firsts' to the band's history. Her passion for musical excellence and player development has been critical to these numerous achievements.
Anri leaves the band with our utmost gratitude and appreciation for all her hard work over the last six years. She has raised standards, improved players and built an ethos of hard work and dedication with a positive, community-based attitude.
We are so proud to have worked with her and will all miss her tremendously. Anri will depart with the very best wishes of everyone at Nailsworth Music Society."
