The 175th anniversary of Delph Band is to be celebrated at a special concert on Sunday 16th November.
It will take place at Denshaw Village Hall (3.00pm) and will see past, present and future members of the historic band get together — with performances from the organisation's Senior, Youth and Training Bands as well as their 'Delph Tooters' ensemble.
Each will play their own items before joining together for a grand massed bands finale.
Formed
The band was formed in 1850 and moved to its present headquarters in 1954. Over the years the senior band has enjoyed many successes, winning two National titles along the way.
Long serving MD, Phil Goodwin told 4BR: "It's going to be an amazing occasion, and we hope as many former players and supporters come and join us.
We are also incredibly grateful to Professor Philip Wilby who has written parts especially for our Tooters, so they can join together with all the bands in his fantastic arrangement of 'Onward Christian Soldiers'. 175 years is an achievement to be proud of, and we hope there is another 175 to come."
