Smith and Cutt to lead Slaithwaite Area challenge

Jason M Smith and Prof Garry Cutt will be the musical leads as Slaithwaite look to make a qualification mark at the Yorkshire Area next year.

A new conducting duo will lead the way at Slaithwaite

The Slaithwaite Band has appointed a new leadership team to spearhead their preparations for the 2026 Yorkshire Regional Championships in March.

Jason M. Smith will look to extend his recent excellent contesting record as he takes the baton with the Colne Valley based Second Section outfit alongside his duties in the North West with Dobcross Silver Band

The band's preparation will also be assisted by Prof Garry Cutt who will be passing on his extensive experience in a number of rehearsals during the build-up period.

Looking forward

Speaking about the news, Jason told 4BR: "I'm looking forward to working with the band and of course working with Garry Cutt will be great for my own development."

Band manager Mark Eastwood added: "We are thoroughly looking forward to the challenge ahead and to working with both conductors".
