The National Eisteddfod of Wales will take place in Wrexham from the 2nd — 9th August with its brass band competitions once again being televised through the S4C broadcaster as well as its 'Clic' highlights service.
The adjudicator this year is Alan Bourne.
Competitions
The joint Championship/First Section (Sunday 3rd August — 11.20am) will see bands compete with their 20-minute programmes for the £750 first prize as well as the Flintshire Territorial Army Cup. There are podium prizes of £500 and £300.
The joint Second/Third Section (Saturday 2nd August — 9.00am) sees bands provide a 15-minute programme in their bid to claim the Ivor Jarvis Trophy and £800 first prize. There are podium prizes of £600 and £400.
The Fourth Section (Saturday 3rd August — 11.30am) with the same programme and prize details.
The special Youth Brass category takes place on Sunday 3rd August at 5.50pm.
Bands will challenge for the Seindorf Beaumaris Shield and £600 first prize donated by Wrexham Supporters Trust to help support charitable work that provide valuable support to members of the wider community) by giving a 15-minute programme of a minimum three items.
There are podium prizes of £400 and £200.
Llareggub and Diego Maradona
Entertainment after the competition at 6.00pm on the separate Maes Stage is being provided by the popular Llareggub Brass Band ensemble.
They will also be providing the musical backing for a special 'Horns, sombians and Diego Maradona' feature at 7.30pm which sees performances of some well-known Welsh football songs by Owain Gruffudd Roberts sung by the 'Red Wall' of Welsh supporters on their travels.
