The renowned trumpet player, composer, educator and musical activist Prof John Wallace CBE has received another honour to mark his distinguished career.
The Patron of the Scottish Brass Band Association is to receive an Honorary Award from the International Trumpet Guild at its 49th annual conference in Utah, USA.
The 75 year old has long been regarded as one of the most influential trumpet players of his generation, enjoying an acclaimed career in a wide-ranging musical field of activity.
Highest award
The ITC's highest individual award, and which is not given every year, recognises his work and outstanding contribution to the global trumpet community. He is honoured alongside Boyde Hood, for many years the principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
Past awardees include Maurice Andre, Louis Armstrong, Philip Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson, Maurice Murphy, Uan Rasey and Herb Albert.
The ITC will also honour Cathy Leach with their Award of Merit, and Dixie Burress with the Bill Pfund Service Award.
Rare privilege
Speaking about the honour, John said: "It's been a rare privilege to work and play with so many brilliant people during the course of what has been a musically replete life."
