Porthywaen Silver Band has announced the return of Steve Pritchard-Jones — almost 50 years to the day since he first began his musical journey with them.
Delighted
Speaking about his return, Steve said: "I'm delighted to take on the role of Musical Director with the band where my musical journey began back in 1975. It's an honour to return and work with such a talented ensemble, and I look forward to building on its rich heritage.
In tandem with my role as Director of Music for The West Midlands Police Brass Band, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead and the potential to further develop and celebrate the musical tradition that makes this band such an integral part of the community."
Welcoming
In welcoming Steve, Band Chairman Kris Davies told 4BR: "This appointment marks a full-circle moment for Steve, who also began his conducting career at Porthywaen Silver Band.
It's a homecoming in the truest sense, and we're thrilled to welcome him back."
