4BR has been informed that Gareth Ritter has resigned as Musical Director of Ebbw Valley Brass as well as from his role with Lydbrook Band.

Personal reasons

Ebbw Valley Brass issued a short statement in which they said the four-time Welsh Conductor of the Year and founding Musical Director had resigned "due to personal reasons". No further details were given.

The band will be conducted at the forthcoming Welsh Open by Matt Rowe, although no announcement has been made to a conducting appointment for the Welsh Regional Championship.

Success

During his tenure, Ebbw Valley Brass claimed National Championship of Great Britain titles at Fourth, Third, Second and First Section levels, as well as multiple titles at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Welsh League and Welsh Open.

The band won the British Open Senior Trophy in 2024 and qualified for the Royal Albert Hall National Final.
