St John's Band (Mossley) has announced the appointment of Ben Hill-Wilson as it new Musical Director.
A recent graduate of the RNCM in Manchester, Ben was the Musical Director for the Universities of Manchester Brass Band until his recent graduation, gaining a well-deserved reputation for his concert programmes.
Experience
He also collaborated on works such as Tchaikovsky's 'Serenade for Strings' and participated in masterclasses with conducting tutor Mark Heron. He recently assisted in recording sessions for an album commemorating the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
A talented composer and arranger, several of his pieces have been performed by various ensembles.
He stated that he was looking forward to expanding his creative work as he continues his journey in conducting.
Passion
In response, the band stated: "With his strong work ethic and passion for music, Ben is the perfect fit for the role, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm.
We would also like to thank all the applicants that put themselves forward and for giving up their time to attend rehearsals with us.
The band were very impressed with the knowledge and skill of all applicants and thoroughly enjoyed each rehearsal."
