The players came together under teh baton of Matthew Ruel

A musical coalition of the forces of bands were brought together under conductor Matthew Ruel to play their part in the annual Sarcoma UK Christmas Carol Concert, held at the historic St Giles-in-the-Fields Church in London.

The evening, hosted by actor Mark Osmond, featured a remarkable line-up of musical talent and performers including Liam Tamne, Melissa Jacques, Classical Reflection, Dr Bambang Atmaja, Enchorus, and the West End Gospel Choir.

Brass Coalition

The players were brought together to perform as Brass Coalition with the hope that they will now be able to support charitable events which wish to use a brass band as part of their entertainment.

The players represented Alder Valley Brass, Ascot Brass, Cobham Band, Epsom & Ewell Silver, Friary Brass, Kidlington Concert Brass, Saint Sebastian Wokingham, Wantage Silver and Wotton Silver Band.

Alongside the usual festive favourites, solos were performed by Friary Band's Richard and Chris Straker on cornet and euphonium respectively.

Thanks

Conductor Matthew Ruel told 4BR: "This is a charitable cause that has a long association with brass bands and so it was great to be able to link up with players who wished to support it. My thanks got o them for giving up their time and for performing so professionally."

Sarcoma UK's Director of Fundraising and Communications, Kerry Reeves-Kneip, also offered her thanks.

"Their talent and enthusiasm shone through in every piece they played and elevated the event to something really special!".

Kerry added: "There's something magical about a brass band at Christmas, and Brass Coalition brought an extra sparkle of festive joy."
