Thundersley Brass is to host a concert to celebrate the life of bandsman Mathew Schroeter.
His tragic death was felt throughout the banding movement, with the event set to feature a performance of Dean Goffin's 'A Symphony of Thanksgiving' which was a particular favourite of his, and the work he selected to write his thesis on when studying at the University of Hull.
Salvation music
All the music will be of Salvation Army origin, reflecting Mat's background at the Waltham Abbey Corps and with the East London Youth Band. Mat had long spoken of his ambition to one day host a Thundersley concert featuring Salvation Army music.
Vision
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Led by MD Melvin White, we are working hard to deliver the vision Mat had for this concert.
It has been a difficult year, but also a memorable one with a difficult build up to the Area contest following Mat's passing. It was however followed soon after by the Senior Trophy victory where the 'Best Instrumentalist' award was won by Mat's brother Keith."
