North American contenders get ready for National challenges

37 contenders are putting the finishing touches to their preparations for the North American Brass Band Association Championships (NABBA) which take place this weekend at the Von Braun Centre in Huntsville, Alabama.

The North American Brass Band Association Championships (NABBA) take place this weekend at the Von Braun Centre in Huntsville, Alabama.

37 bands will compete in the five section of competition which will see them perform a set-work plus their own-choice test piece selections.

Action

The action starts on Friday 21st April at 1.00pm (local time) with the First Section and Championship Section set-work performances in the main Concert Hall. The Second Section set-work starts at 2.00pm in the Playhouse auditorium.

Saturday starts in the Playhouse with the Third Section at 9.00am with the action in the Concert Hall starting at 9.05am with the Second Section own-choice, followed by the First Section and Championship Section own-choice disciplines. The final performance comes from the Youth Section entrants before the announcement of the results.

In addition to the band competitions there are the keenly fought individual and ensemble contests.

September 26 • Required: Solo Euphonium and Solo Horn. We are a championship section band, newly promoted in 2025. We rehearse in Loughton Milton Keynes on a Tuesday night at 7.45pm until 10pm, with extra rehearsals prior to contests or formal concerts.
