Countdown to Bergen

The Norwegian National Championships take place this weekend in Bergen — and you can't be there you can also catch the action on a live-stream

  The Grieg Hall in Bergen will host the event on Friday an Saturday this weekend

The Norwegian National Championships return in Bergen this weekend (9th & 10th February) with 4BR making the trip to enjoy and report on the performances at the Grieg Hall.

76 bands will take to the stage in six sections with the action starting on Friday morning (10th February).

If you can't make it to the event in person you can still enjoy catching up on the action through a live stream broadcast on www.brasspass.tv

World Rejoicing

The 10 Elite Division performers will finally get to play Edward Gregson's 'The World Rejoicing' as the set-work, which is the only category of the event that is subject to closed adjudication. The defending Elite Division champion is Stavanger.

The Elite Division own-choice selections are: Other Lives (Oliver Waespi); St Magnus (Kenneth Downie); A Brussels Requiem (Bert Appermont); English Heritage (George Lloyd); A Gabrieli Fantasy (Bert Appermont); King of a New Dawn (Stig Nordhagen); Bipolarity (Stijn Aertgeerts); Spiriti (Thomas Doss); Horror Show (Simon Dobson); Music of the Spheres (Philip Sparke).

The winning band will represent the nation at the 2024 European Championships in Palanga.

As always there is a wide selection of own choice works being performed in the other sections over the two days — from established repertoire to new compositions.
