Further recognition of the outstanding work undertaken by the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has been made by Arts Council England, with its award of National Youth Music Organisation (NYMO) status.
NYMO organisations are co-funded with the Department of Education to develop talented young musicians across a wide range of musical genres and help sustain the excellence and diversity of music making in the UK.
The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain now joins just six other leading organisations in meeting the criteria, including the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Funding
It follows the recent announcement that the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain maintained its crucial Arts Council England funding status for the period 2023 to 2026.
Speaking exclusively to 4BR, CEO Mark Bromley said: "This award recognises that our work makes a significant national contribution to improving music education opportunities for children and young people across the country. It also recognises the steps and progress made by the National Youth band in recent years.
It means that we will be jointly funded by ACE and the Department for Education and able to continue our long term development as an organisation that has excellence, diversity and inclusion at its heart."
Testament
He added: "To be recognised as a key part of the National Plan for Music Education is a huge privilege and testament to the amazing work done by everyone involved in the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain family."

Sage appearance
After a busy 2022 which has seen successful courses and widespread critical acclaim, a small
Ambassador Ensemble comprising the leaders of each section of the band will head to Sage Gateshead on Friday to support youngster taking part in its Elementary Music Day.
Mark added: "We are delighted to be involved in such a great outreach project — one that chimes very much with our outlook of inspiring the next generation of young players."
