The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has spoken of its delight after it received notification today that its funding will be maintained through Arts Council England (ACE) over the next three years.
At a time when many other bodies received news of cuts, 4BR understands that the renewed funding will be now come directly though one ACE stream of just over £119,000 per annum instead of being split between it and the Department of Education.
Delighted
Speaking to 4BR, NYBBGB CEO Mark Bromley said: "We are delighted to receive this funding and thank Arts Council England and the Department of Education for their continued support of our mission — to provide the brightest young brass and percussion musicians the opportunity to develop their musicianship, play together and inspire others.
Our celebratory year has seen many highs, and this wonderful news really sets us up for more success in 2023 and beyond."
Change in outlook
A successful change in artistic and organisational outlook has seen the NYBBGB prosper in recent years, with significant achievements in addition to its annual courses and concerts noted with their young conductors' competition, Ambassador Ensemble's educational tour, participation in the opening the Gramophone Classical Music Awards and working with artists such as Martin Green and the Royal Marines Band Service.
Our celebratory year has seen many highs, and this wonderful news really sets us up for more success in 2023 and beyondCEO, Mark Bromley
Build on success
Adding his thanks was John Gillam, Chairman of the NYBBGB Trustees, who added: "The trustees had every faith that the NYBBGB would receive this funding, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff in creating memorable musical experiences for the children and young people in the bands.
We look forward to working with Mark and his team to build on these successes over the next three years."
