The City of Hull Band has announced a new musical direction with a dual artistic partnership.

Following their performances the Regional Championships and the British Open Spring Festival they have moved to secure the services of the experience duo of Jonathan Beatty and Danny Brooks.

Delighted

Speaking about the appointments, Band Chairperson, Julia Mathews said: "We're delighted that Danny and Jonathan have agreed to work with us on a more formal basis.

There has been a real buzz around the stands in the last 6-8 months and a lot of that is down to the work ethic they have instilled in the band."

The duo will share conducting duties on both the concert and contest stage. Interestingly, Jonathan will lead the band at the Royal Albert Hall National Final in October, competing against Daniel who will be leading Leyland Band.

Focusing

Jonathan said: "I've really enjoyed working with the band over the last 9 months. They are everything a great brass band should be; striving for musical excellence, focusing on entertaining the audience with joy and camaraderie.

I've known Danny since his student days and I'm delighted we can create a musical partnership."

Looking forward

Meanwhile, Danny added: "I look forward to working with the band alongside my MD role at Leyland.

Jonathan is a great conductor and it will be wonderful to work alongside him to deliver success to the band at its upcoming events."
