The line-ups for the forthcoming Scottish Open and Band Supplies Scottish Challenge Shield Championships have been provisionally confirmed.
Both events form part of the 2022 contest season organised by the Scottish Brass Band Association.
Challenge & Open contests
The own-choice Band Supplies Scottish Challenge Shield I open to bands in Sections 1 to 4 and will take place at Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 12th November.
The own-choice Scottish Open Championship will take place at Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 26th November. It has attracted an extensive field of bands from Scotland, England and Norway, led defending champion Whitburn.
They will be looking to make it eight wins in a row at the event, although they will face a stiff challenge to their hegemony from former winners the cooperation band, fresh from their fine performance at the British Open, as well as London finalists Bon Accord and Easington Colliery.
They head a strong English challenge, with former winner Hepworth also returning alongside fellow Yorkshire travellers, Elland Silver and City of Bradford, whilst Wingates, Pemberton Old and Rainford come from the North West area.
The band making the furthest motorway journey will be East London Brass whilst the contest welcomes Norwegian challenges Tertnes Brass for the first time since 2012.
Ahead of the results there will be a short concert given by the National Youth Band of Scotland Principals conducted by Besson tuba star Les Neish.
