The newly crowned British Open Champion Brighouse & Rastrick has certainly enjoyed an increased media presence following its win at Symphony Hall.

The latest recognition was a little bit different though, as they were presented with a special celebratory cake. It was made by 'Cakes by Elaine' — the owner being a member of the Cadishead Band and a pupil of Brighouse's euphonium star Chris Robertson.

Tucked in

Musical Director Prof David King certainly took a shine to it, as did the players who tucked into it straight after their rehearsal.

In thanking Elaine for her super show of culinary support, they said: "The incredible surprise cake was very welcome indeed. Elaine's cakes are phenomenal, and it was such a wonderful show of support for the band's British Open victory."
