Double attraction at Oxford Contest

There is something for both bands and composers to aim for at the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association Entertainment Contest later this year.

  There is plenty for both competing bands and budding composers to aim for at the contest this year.

Entries are now open for the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association's Entertainment Contest.

The event will take place on Sunday 6th November at Marlborough School, Woodstock (OX20 1LP). The adjudicators are Alan Fernie and Phillip Littlemore.

Bands that are interested should contact Lynne at: odbbacontests@gmail.com for details and entry form.

The closing date is Saturday 8th October.

Composer Competition:

A spokesperson told 4BR: "To celebrate the centenary of the association in 2023 we are holding a special Composition Competition to find two new concert items for member bands to play during the year.

There are two categories: Under 25's and Over 25's, with entries welcome from composers from around the banding world.

Each category winner will receive a prize of £500.

The judging panel will consist of Phillip Littlemore, Alan Fernie and Gavin Somerset, and the results will be announced at the Entertainment Contest.
