Brass Bands England has launched its new 'Check & Challenge' safeguarding resource.
With issues surrounding safeguarding such an important priority for organisations, BBE hopes that it can help create a much safer environment for people to enjoy their music making.
Check & Challnge
The 'Check & Challenge' tool has been developed in partnership with the NSPCC, and is designed to help bands review and improve their current safeguarding practices, irrespective of their starting point.
It can be used by an individual within a band, in a small group, or by a committee or board of trustees.
Help
Speaking about the resource, Sam Fisher, BBE's Safeguarding Officer told 4BR: "Keeping up to date with current legislation and guidance, and following it in practice, is key to giving your band confidence in its safeguarding measures.
We're asking banding organisations to ask themselves several questions surrounding their current safeguarding measures. If they think they can be developed further then we believe this resource will help enormously."
Sam explained that the resource tool will guide people through the different areas to check, including a system of green and red flag checklists that make it easy to understand your band's initial safeguarding fitness, how to prioritise the focus of your audit, and steps to create your action plan.
