Brighouse & Rastrick has announced the return to their West Riding ranks of soprano player Martin Irwin.
Third time
It will mark the third time the experienced performer has donned the famous purple and gold colours having enjoyed tenures from 1992 to 2001, initially as assistant principal cornet and then soprano, and again in the same roles between 2006 until 2010.
On both occasions he helped the band to considerable contesting success — adding to a personal tally of 11 major championship wins. He has also enjoyed playing with the likes of Marsden, Black Dyke and Fairey.
Success
Commenting on his return he said: "I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my playing career, getting started and performing again, and helping them achieve further success."
I'm really excited to be re-joining B&R, a band close to my heart and one I've shared so many great times and successes with over 13 yearsMartin Irwin
Qualities
In response, Chairman, Ste Cavanagh added: "We're delighted to welcome Martin back home. He's a fine player a terrific bandsman and someone who has always helped the band to major silverware.
Those are qualities any band would desire, and it's really quite special when that player already shares our passion for the jacket the team wears.
We all can't wait to get back into the band room and out on stage together again."
