With the vast majority of the banding world still in rehearsal lockdown, the BrassFestUK's 'Isolation Video' initiative supported by Pennine Music Publishing has proved to be a huge hit.
Global
BrassFestUK is spearheaded by well known conductor and bandsman Rob Tompkins, and started with the aim of getting bands out playing to the public. And despite the current restrictions, performances have still been enjoyed across the globe with his follow-up to the first 'The Spirit of Brass' project.
Rob chose Philip Harper's arrangement of Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls', with publishers Wright & Round kindly agreeing to send out the parts to participating players.
Using social media 350 soon signed up — with interest exploding so that at the moment over 700 players are part of the initiative.
Great piece
Rob told 4BR: "It's a great piece around three and half minutes long, but that means that there is just short of 40 hours of video and audio content to edit!! It's a huge task but I'm thoroughly looking forward to it.
It's been great to hear players enjoying themselves — from France, Italy, Portugal, USA, Canada, Belgium, Australia and New Zealand to all over the UK."
Rob revealed the band line-up consists of 33 sopranos, 204 cornets, 38 flugels, 123 tenor horns, 74 baritones, 56 euphoniums, 84 trombones, 79 tubas and 12 percussionists4BR
