The decision to cancel the event has been taken by the executive committee

The Executive committee of the Brass Band League Northern Ireland has taken the difficult decision to cancel its popular Festival of Brass event which was to have taken place on 28th November in the Island Centre, Lisburn.

Safety

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We know that all of the bands would want to support this event and we did not want any of them, or their band members, to feel any pressure to return to band until it is 100% safe to do so due to COVID-19 pandemic

It was not an easy decision to make but the safety of the bands, their members and their families was at the forefront of our decision."

Informed

4BR was informed that the committee is now working on a date for Festival of Brass 2021 and keep bands informed of any developments.

They added: "On a brighter note, we have dates booked for our 2021 events which we hope will still be able to go ahead — even if they have to be slightly different for safety reasons."
