The Geneva Group has announced that it continues to expand its support into the grass roots of banding.
Geneva Group General Manager, Brett Baker recently made a visit to Consett Primary School in County Durham, after helping them choose a number of new instruments for their aspiring Year 6 Band — one of several that now form part of their learning environment.
Inspire
Brett worked on four pieces with the ensemble that is currently preparing a programme of music to perform in other primary schools around the local area to help inspire then to take up brass playing.
He told 4BR: "I've been visiting the Consett Primary School for over 20 years and their approach to music making in all forms is brilliant, and has been going from strength to strength in recent years in particular thanks to the work of teachers David Jackson and Rebecca Walters.
He added: "Not only do they make it great fun, but it's totally inclusive and backed by a dynamic approach to ensuring all the basics of posture, breathing and presentation are in place. It's no wonder so many children want to play."

Fun and interesting
After being presented with their new instruments, one of the children told 4BR: "I absolutely love learning playing and especially when Brett showed us just how he does it. It makes playing the music more fun and interesting."
Brett will return to the school in July when he presents a concert with the White River Brass Ensemble.
