Special occasion for Coalburn ahead of Cheltenham

The Coalburn Band organisation is to showcase its playing talents as they look forward to adding to their National CV.

Coalburn
The Coalburn Silver Band will once again head to Cheltenham in September

The Coalburn Band organisation will showcase their talents to their local community next month with a special concert featuring three integral parts of their music making set-up.

The concert on Friday 6th September at Blackwood & Kirkmuirhill Community Wing will see the Coalburn Bronze (Children's) Band and Intermediate Band both under the direction of David Fehilly perform, as well as the senior Silver Band led by Gareth Bowman.

Occasion

Band President Alan Court told 4BR: "We're thrilled to be performing in Blackwood and will showcase all our talents.

It will also give our supporters the chance to hear the senior band perform 'Occasion' by Edward Gregson which they will perform at the National Finals in Cheltenham on the 15th September.

Anniversary

That event will also mark the 15th anniversary of Gareth Bowman taking the reins at Coalburn, as well as it being the band's sixth trip to the Finals since 2005. Seven players from the first appearance are still in the band ranks — with no less than 20 from their last outing in 2016.
