Welsh Champion Tredegar welcomed Belgian euphonium virtuoso Glenn Van Looy to their bandroom on Thursday evening to put the finishing touches to preparations for a weekend of recording with the Geneva International Performance Artist for his new CD release.
Bourgeois Concerto
Glenn flew into the UK after a busy week of high profile playing and adjudicating in his adopted home country of Switzerland, and after a quick bite to eat with MD Ian Porthouse was quickly down to work — including a detailed look at what will be the first ever brass band recording of the Derek Bourgeois 'Euphonium Concerto'.
"It's great to be back in Wales and to be working with Tredegar. I'm a huge fan of their musical outlook and their fearless approach to contemporary music in particular — so I know the Bourgeois will be in safe hands. I'm sure we will enjoy ourselves this weekend."

The recording is being made alongside World of Sound Recordings, with Tredegar MD Ian Porthouse delighted to link up with both Glenn and Adam Goldsmith and his team.
"The recording certainly keeps the band focused and working hard after the UK Band of the Year contest in Manchester.
