Whit Friday organisers gain BOPA clearance

Bands taking part in the forthcoming Whit Friday contests need to be aware of their responsibilities after organisers gain BOPA coverage.

Whit Friday
BOPA coverage has been gained and bands need to be clear on their responsibilities

4BR has been informed by the organisers of the Saddleworth & Oldham and Tameside Whit Friday contests that all appropriate legal requirements have been put in place in respect to Child Protection and performance licensing for children under the age of 16.

The contests have worked extensively with their appropriate local authority to meet the requirements and are now in receipt of a Body of Persons Approval (BOPA) to cover young people.

Requirements

Competing bands are requested that they must address the following requirements when taking part.

1. Confirm the number of under 16s that will be performing with the band.
2. Confirm the number of chaperone/DBS checked adults that will accompany minors.
3. Confirm that each band with any performers under 16 has a robust safeguarding policy.

Bands will also need to make sure they meet the required ratio of adults to children of 1:12 on the day to comply.

Further information

The BOPA data can be provided In advance of the day for competing bands on the Saddleworth & Oldham Circuit at the following link: https://saddleworthwhitfriday.co.uk/?page_id=10
