Report & Results: 2019 Holme Valley contest

Hade Edge and Tewit Silver and Youth Bands lead the way in a great day of contesting in the Holme Valley.

Hade Edge
Hade Edge took the honours under MD Jonathan Beatty

The contesting partnership between conductor Jonathan Beatty and the Hade Edge Band came to a successful final chord on the weekend at the 93rd Hade Edge Contest.

Tallis honours

Their performance of 'Tallis Variations' by Philip Sparke gained high praise from adjudicator David Roberts as they claimed the honours in the Section B contest for 2nd & 3rd Section bands from rivals Meltham & Meltham Mills with Oughtibridge in third.

Hade Edge also took a clean sweep of the individual awards, with Meltham taking the 'Best Hymn Tune' honours.

In Section C there was also a comprehensive clean sweep by Tewit Silver led by Martin Hall. They took the test-piece, hymn tune and the outstanding soloist award. The Tewit Youth Band also won their section with an excellently played 15 minute own-choice programme.
