A 1947 car which was reportedly once owned by Harry Mortimer will be making a rare appearance at The Yorkshire Post Motor Show & Classic Car Rally in June.

The Riley RMA (like the one above) will be among hundreds of restored classic cars at the event at Harewood House — although according to the news story in the Yorkshire Post, its owner, Andrew Greenhough may need to do a little bit more research on the vehicles famous driver.

Research

He is quoted as saying that was registered on Valentine's Day 1947, "…by its first owner, the wartime jazz man and radio band leader, Harry Mortimer."

However it seems he was much more enthused by the car itself, saying: "It's not bad to drive. Because they were built just after the war, engineering skills had improved.

At the time they were quite modern mechanically but the bodywork was traditional with a wooden ash frame."

Harry Mortimer was born in Hebden Bridge in 1902 and died in 1992.
