An ensemble group from the West of England Area champion Flowers has just returned from a hugely enjoyable trip to Palanga, where they took the opportunity to take in the local culture and history before performing in the gala concert of the 2019 Lithuanian Wind Band Championships.
Excellence
MD Paul Holland, who also adjudicated at the event, told 4BR that he was also bowled over by the enthusiasm and excellence of the growing Lithuanian wind and brass band movements.
"It was a memorable weekend for everyone concerned. The welcome given was wonderful and we were looked after so well.
The brass band movement is growing so quickly and the enthusiasm is incredible. I'm sure the 2020 European Championships are going to be a huge success here in Palanga."

Assistance
The ensemble helped provide a 45-minute programme of easy listening music before the announcement of the results, with the Flowers players assisted by performers from selected competing bands.
"That made for a lovely atmosphere in the hall,"Paul added. "...and it enabled us to hear just how determined and talented the players were. The reception at the end was incredible, and I have to thank the event organisers for making us feel so welcome."
The next event to take place at the Concert Hall will be the Amber Wind international Wind Music Festival from the 17th-19th May, which will feature wind ensembles from the UK and Lithuania, as well as a Gala Concert performance by Cory Band.
