Crofts End Silver Band has welcomed the appointment of their new Musical Director, Allen St. John.
Allen takes over from Colin Cunliffe who had taken on the role on a temporary basis. The official handover took place at a recent concert in memory of former Band Chairman Reg Hall.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We're very grateful for all the hard work and effort that Colin put in to keep the band going."
Allen has worked with brass bands, orchestras, opera companies and youth groups. He has also toured in the UK and abroad including Canada with the Hampshire County Youth Band.

Potential
He stated that after many years in Music and Performing Arts Education as a teacher and advisor for several education authorities, he was delighted to come out of retirement to work as conductor with the band which comprises all ages and abilities.
The spokesperson added: "Under Allen's calm approach we feel we have loads of potential to grow as a band."
