A brand new internet music channel with a focus on brass, wind and fanfare bands has been launched in The Netherlands.
HighnoteTV is an initiative that links music producer Mirasound to Dutch news platform CUBrass and video producer 26 Avenue, with the hope that it will attract lovers of brass bands, wind bands and fanfare bands to a subscription channel that can be accessed via smart phones, tablets and PCs.
Monthly payment
4BR understands that the new venture hopes to offer a wide variety of content, including concerts, competitions, interviews and features.
It will be launched on its website (Wednesday 17th October) with subscribers having the choice either to pay through a regular monthly payment of Euros 8.99 or through on a 'pay per view' basis.
Choice and flexibility
Spokesperson Henk van Loon told 4BR: "By exploring different media possibilities, we want to allow more people to enjoy brass band, wind band and fanfare band performances via the internet.
We have been inspired by the Netflix model which allows customer choice and flexibility; monthly subscription, 'pay per view' and free content.
We also want people to be able to enjoy both new and historic content. We have access to a huge archive of concert and contest material, including the Dutch National Championships and the World Music Contest from Kerkrade."

Giving back
Henk added: "HighnoteTV will also give something back. Two-thirds of the revenue from our 'pay per view' content will go back to the organisers of events we support and participating bands.
In addition, we will set up a fund to help stimulate youth activity in each of the brass band, wind band and fanfare band sectors with proceeds from the subscriptions — including helping the ambition to establish a National Youth Brass Band."
