BrassFest UK closing date looms

The closing date for the inventive BrassFest UK Entertainment Contest is looming — and you don't have to travel to take part either...

Brass Fest
The closing date for BrassFest UK is fast approaching...

The closing date to enter the BrassFestUK Entertainment Contest is now only a few days away.

If you wish to enter the event then you have until 30th September to contact organiser Rob Tompkins (see below)

Difference

The contest with a difference is being adjudicated by recording, with bands asked to record a 20-minute programme to send to BrassFestUK, where adjudicators Jayne Murrill, Samantha Harrison and Alan Duguid are all looking forward to hearing what they have to offer.

The entry is split into three section:

Development (all players playing less than 2 years)
Youth (all players under 19 at the 30th September)
Training (all other unregistered bands)

All the bands will be in with a chance of picking up the first prize of a £50 voucher per section kindly donated by Pennine Music.

Advantage

Organiser Rob Tompkins told 4BR: "The advantage to the bands for a contest like this is that they can pick when to record, and which pieces to re-do if the performance can be improved. There is no cost involved apart from the £15 entry fee per band.

The adjudicators want to hear the bands at their best, so recording in the comfort of their own bandroom will help players that may otherwise be nervous and gives all the bands a chance to really show what they can do."
