The stunning restoration of Steven Mead's 103 year old 'Triumph' euphonium has created a great deal of media interest.

A recent feature article on 4BR that highlighted the remarkable restoration work undertaken by Rick McQueeney at McQueen's Musical Instrument Repairs on a 103 year old euphonium taken to them by Steven Mead, has created a great deal of media interest.

Triumph

Rick's expertise on the Salvation Army Class A 'The Triumph' instrument saw it restored to former glory — and it's now being played by Steve on a regular basis.

Now, professional photographer Lorne Campbell has taken a series of promotional shots with Steve at the RNCM in Manchester (above) following requests by local, regional and national media outlets, all of whom have been fascinated by the restoration of a century old piece of banding history.

I've been inundated with requests about the 'Triumph' and when I'm going to play it in concert. Thanks to Lorne's great photography it certainly looks as good as it plays so watch this spaceSteven Mead

Incredible craftsmanship

"Rick's reputation for incredible craftsmanship is well known,"Steve told 4BR. "That' why he has been employed to look after the FA Cup and BBC Sports Personality of the Year trophies, so it's no surprise his work on my instrument has created such a stir.
