The organisers of the 2018 Band Cyrmu competition have announced that they are to work with the promoters of the Welsh Open Entertainment Contest to ensure that there is no clash of recording dates that may potentially stop bands competing in both events.
Compete in both
A spokesperson for Rondo television told 4BR: "We are aware that the Welsh Open is a very important competition for Welsh banding and we want to ensure that bands can compete there as well as in our competition.
We will therefore be working with the organisers to suggest new recording dates for north and west Wales to enable bands to compete in both events if they so wish."

Healthy prize funds
The multi-genre Band Cymru competition has attracted healthy viewing figures in 2014 and again in 2016, with brass bands eager to compete against other musical ensembles to claim a £10,000 first prize package.
Meanwhile the Welsh Open has taken place since 1998, and has become the traditional opening event of the Welsh contesting season.
Held at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl it also has a healthy prize fund and attracts bands from both sides of the River Severn.
