No room at the Huddersfield top flight Inn

Not even a husband with an expectant mother riding a donkey will be able to get a ticket to the Championship Section at the Yorkshire Area this year.

Huddersfield Town Hall
Huddersfield Town Hall is sold out for the top section battle

Brass band fans from all around the world will be focusing their attention Huddersfield Town Hall this weekend as the Yorkshire Regional Championships take place.

Championship full house

However, as reported on 4BR, the 'Full House' signs will be posted outside the doors for the Championship Section contest on Sunday afternoon and those hoping to pick up any spare tickets for the battle between defending champion Black Dyke and their rivals will be disappointed — as there are none left.

Regional Secretary Peggy Tomlinson, told 4BR yesterday: "I have been notified well in advance now by the Town Hall management that the Championship Section is sold out."

Demand outstrips supply

Peggy added: "We have received phone calls and e-mails from all around the banding world, but the answer is the same, so please do not waste your time to travel in the hope of getting a ticket for the Championship Section on the day.

We would encourage support for all the other sections as all the bands deserve it, but on this occasion demand has far outstripped supply for the Championship Section."
