Austrian trio look to master Red Priest to gain Ostend invite

The Austrian National Championships take place this weekend in Kufstein, a place in Ostend up for grabs for the new champion.

Defending champions
  The defending champion is Brass Band Oberosterreich

The 2016 Austrian National will take place Kufstein this weekend.

Three bands will compete in the Championship Section with the winners going on to represent the nation at the 2017 European Championships in Ostend.

Foundations

A trio of youth bands will also compete in their own competition on Saturday 5th November, as now in its third year, the event begins to put down long term brass band foundations in the country

The following day the bands in the Championship Section will perform the set-work, 'Red Priest' by Philip Wilby.

Competing bands

The competing bands are:

Brass Band Froschl Hall (Josef Laube)
Brass Band Oberosterreich (Ian Porthouse)
R.E.T. Brass Band (Andreas Lackner)

Austrian Brass Band Graz conducted by Uwe Koller unfortunately withdrew from the contest.

Judges

The adjudication team are Tom Brevik (Norway), Armin Bachmann (Switzerland) and Luc Vertommen (Belgium).

Whilst waiting for the results, the audience will be treated to a concert from 2015 champion Brass Band Oberosterreich.
