The Friezland Band has announced the appointment of Max Stannard as their new Musical Director.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Max is a young, enthusiastic and very capable MD and we look forward to working with him.

We also take the opportunity to thank former MD, Paul Kershaw, for all of his work with the band and wish him every success in his new ventures."

The published composer and arranger studied conducting at Lancaster University and has played trombone with a number of bands in the North West and Midlands.

The band spokesperson added: "Max is a great talent and we are really looking forward to working on new repertoire for upcoming concerts."
