Judges give views from box for Cheltenham

Four of the judges at Cheltenham have given their views , opinions and pointers on the test-pieces to be played this weekend. It could prove to be essential reading!

Judges
The judges have given a few early pointers to take into account on the test-pieces this weekend in Cheltenham.

With less than 24 hours to go before the action starts at the National Finals in Cheltenham, there is a fantastic last minute opportunity to find out if your band is heading in the right interpretative direction thanks to an article in Brass Band World magazine.

Personal impressions

The 'View from the Box' article sees Alan Morrison ('Ballet for Band' — First Section), Steve Sykes ('Images for Brass' — Second Section), David Childs ('Lake of the Moon' — Third Section) and Dr Robert Childs ('Music from Kantara' — Fourth Section) give their personal impressions and thoughts on what they feel are the important aspects of each work.

Although these are not the blueprints for success, even if followed to the letter, they should give conductors some last minute food for thought as they put the final touches to their pre-contest preparations4BR

Not a blueprint

Although these are not the blueprints for success, even if followed to the letter, they should give conductors some last minute food for thought as they put the final touches to their pre-contest preparations.
