Tredegar Band has announced the signing of Will Norman as their new assistant principal cornet.
The 21 year old comes to the Welsh Regional and Band Cymru champion from Flowers Band, where he enjoyed considerable success both on flugel and cornet as an integral part of the leading West of England band.
Opportunity
Currently studying under Tim Hutchinson and Chris Turner at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, he will make his contest debut at the Welsh National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny next weekend.
"It's great to be joining Tredegar,"he said. "I enjoyed a fantastic time at Flowers and thank them so much, but this gives me the opportunity to further my playing with a band with such a brilliant musical outlook.
The amount of work they put in to what they do is incredible and to play next to someone like Dewi Griffiths on principal cornet was an opportunity I couldn't miss."

Fantastic player
Tredegar MD Ian Porthouse was equally delighted at the latest capture for his band. "Will is a fantastic player who is already building so impressively on his huge potential. He is a major signing for us — and adds further strength to our cornet section."
Ian added: "Our thanks also go to Rhian Linney who gave an amazing amount of dedication and commitment to the band — especially given her three hour plus one way journey to band. We hope she can return again when she returns closer to Wales."
