Wychavon support links boost entries

Great sponsor support, a generous prize fund, a friendly atmosphere and a link to the Spring Festival in Blackpool has already boosted the entry list for the popular Wychavon Festival of Brass.

Wychavon Festival of Brass

It has been announced that the popular Wychavon Festival of Brass will take place this year on October 29th in Evesham — home to the event since 2014.

The once nomadic contest has found a welcome home in the pretty town thanks to the ongoing support of the Town Council and local business leaders, many of who are actively involved in the promotion of the entertainment contest.

Thrilling discovery

Local entrepreneur Simon Dowdeswell told 4BR: "I'm delighted my company Print2clothing now produces the programmes and publicity material. Being involved in the contest has opened my eyes to a world that I didn't know existed — and it's been thrilling to discover just what a rich and engrossing musical world it is!"

Festival Contest Secretary Kevin Whitaker is also pleased that this year's contest has already seen a number of contenders confirm their participation. He told 4BR: "Over 20 bands have already confirmed their entries — drawn by the wonderful atmosphere, generous prize money and the link we now enjoy with the British Open Spring Festival."

Closing date

That connection will see one band also qualify to appear at the Senior Trophy in Blackpool — so little wonder Kevin was keen to encourage bands to get their entries in as soon as possible with a closing date of September 5th.

"Bands should think about entering sooner rather than later as places are already filling up," he added. "And because many bands break for the summer it might be advisable to enter before the holiday season really gets under way.

We try not to turn any band away be we do have limitations so it has to be first come first served. My advice is to get your entries in now!"
