Following a successful festival event that took place in April at their new Cheltenham venue, the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association has announced that it will now host an own-choice Test-Piece & March contest in November.
Great venue
It will take place at All Saints' Academy in Cheltenham on Sunday November 20th — a modern school situated only 11 minutes from J11 of the M5 motorway.
All Saints' has excellent ground floor facilities including a performance hall seating 300, nine assembly rooms, warm-up facilities, large cafeteria with seating area and ample parking for cars and coaches.
David Hayward will be the welcoming compere with the adjudication duties undertaken by David Thornton.
Four sections
The contest offers four sections and in the spirit of encouraging all to play, GBBA contesting rules allow a maximum of 40 players (4 can be borrowed), of which 1 may be from the section above. Section D also allows the extra help of registered adult players.
Section A: Championship & First Section
Section B: Second & Third Section
Section C: Fourth Section
Section D: Youth, Training & Unregistered
As well as a host of trophies to be won, the Association is also offering prize money in all registered sections and a reduced entry fee to Section D.
