Grimethorpe & District Band is ensuring that their long term future is being secured by investing their time and resources in youth.
Enjoy
The community based non-competing band may not share the same profile as their most illustrious Yorkshire counterparts, but they have provided a wonderful opportunity for players both young and old over the years to learn and enjoy making brass band music together under the baton of MD, Martin Bird.
Now the next generation is already in place and working hard, with 6 year old percussionist Amy Rebecca Hughes and 7 year old Carys Prince on cornet already making their mark (above).
We feel that investing in youth is not only good for the band, but gives the children such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy making music with friendsBand spokesperson
Wonderful
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It's wonderful to see two youngsters enjoy themselves so much. Carys has been with the band about eight months now and is already a great little player, whilst Amy only joined in the last month and has already played in her first concert.
We feel that investing in youth is not only good for the band, but gives the children such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy making music with friends."
