The market town of Stalham in North Norfolk recently celebrated 55 years of a public library service provided by its county council.
Visitors were treated to free refreshments and music provided by the young players of Stalham Youth as part of the event.
Free tuition as well
Children at local schools also receive a wonderful public service from the band — with free instrument loan and free tuition, both in and out of school time.
55 years of service
The Youth Section is made up from those trainees who have reached a certain standard of playing and have been invited to join the main band and play at community events, whilst the 55th anniversary also coincided with the year that the band's Director of Music Tim Thirst joined Stalham as a young cornet player!!
