Masonic handshake of success for Chapeltown

The great achievements of Chapeltown Silver in Yorkshire have come to the notice of the local Masonic Lodge.

Chapeltown

At Chapeltown Silver's recent annual Patrons' Concert a welcome donation was made to the band by the local Tapton Masonic Lodge from the Freemasons of Yorkshire West Riding.

The Freemasons support huge projects like the recent Ecuador earthquake and flood relief to help for local charitable organisations such as the band — especially in support of the work they do to encourage youngsters to take up playing music.

King support

It was appropriate therefore that two of the youngest members of the band, Lucy Heeley (age 11) and Daniel Morris (age 16) received the donation, whilst a band spokesperson told 4BR: "We would like to thank the Freemasons of Yorkshire West Riding for their kind support."

A presentation was also made to MD, Andrew Dennis, in recognition of the remarkable progress and achievements the band has made since his return in 2008.

Back to back wins

Under his guidance, Chapeltown won the Third Section of the Yorkshire Regional Championships in 2010 and recently gained back to back wins in the Second and First Section Area Championships at Bradford to proudly represent Yorkshire at the National Finals in Cheltenham for the second year in succession.
