Shirebrook Council announce concert and contest support

Shirebrook Council continues it support of brass band with its Brass in the Park series and popular Entertainment Contest — led by Foden's Band.

Shirebrook Town Council will again be supporting brass banding in their area with their annual 'Shirebrook Brass in the Park' series of concerts.

Each concert takes place at 2.00pm on the bandstand at Shirebrook Town Park.

26th June: Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Concert
24th July: Shirebrook Miners Welfare
7th August: Ireland Colliery Chesterfield
21st August: Market Rasen Res Dev
28th August: Thoresby Colliery

Festival

Meanwhile, the council has also announced the format for the Shirebrook Town Music Festival supported through the Arts Council England and its 'Grants for the Arts' scheme.

North West Regional champion Foden's will appear at Shirebrook Leisure Centre on Saturday 9th July (7.00pm), with tickets available from Shirebrook Leisure Centre on 01623 748313 or Shirebrook Town Council on 01623 742475 priced at £12 and £10 concessions.

The following day (Sunday 10th July) the Leisure Centre will host the '2016 Shirebrook Brass Band Open Entertainment Contest'4BR

The following day (Sunday 10th July) the Leisure Centre will host the '2016 Shirebrook Brass Band Open Entertainment Contest'

There is no registration, and the event is open to any band (contesting or non-contesting). The entry fee is just £50.00, with the opportunity for competitors to lay their hands on a very generous prize fund.

There is a first prize of £750, with podium prizes of £400 and £200 and a further £200 for the 'Most Entertaining' Second, Third and Fourth Section bands respectively.

March 27 • We are a friendly progressive 1st Section band who need a couple of seats filled.. Bb BASS and PERCUSSIONIST are on our wanted list so if you are looking for a new banding challenge get in contact. We rehearse on Wednesdays and have good realistic diary.

March 27 • After a respectable 4th place in the 2nd Section at the Welsh Area Contest, we are looking for FRONT ROW CORNET (position negotiable) 1st BARITONE, 2ND TROMBONE and Bb BASS players to come and join us on our journey under the baton of Martin McHale BEM.


East London Brass

March 27 • PERCUSSION - ELB are the look out for a percussionist to complement our existing section. We have a sensible diary of contests and concerts and are ambitious to keep progressing as a band.
