The organisers of the Tameside Whit Friday march contests that will take place in five weeks time on Friday 20th May have started to announce details about this year's event.

Council and voluntary ran

With the support and co-operation of Tameside Council Cultural Services, the contests are ran by the hard working volunteers under the banner of the Tameside Friends of Whit Friday.

Once again, the borough which held its first ever contests in Stalybridge and Mossley in the late 1800s, will attract bands and visitors from around the globe to its eleven venues.

In what remain austere times, all of the contests are working hard to ensure everything is in place for the big day, whilst the organisers are thrilled to announce that Dukinfied car dealership, Premier Kia will support the Tameside Whit Friday Youth Championships which ran for the first time last year.

Premier Kia supports Youth event

A spokesperson for the Tameside Friends of Whit Friday told 4BR: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Besson for their support in 2015 and hope we can work them again in the near future.

We are delighted that Premier Kia from Dukinfield has kindly agreed to sponsor the Youth prizes and look forward to seeing representatives from their company and their guests around the venues on 20th May".

Further details of the contests including prize monies available will be announced in the coming weeks.
