An exciting new international competition has been launched in a bid to find the next leading world class symphonic conductor.
Talents
The 1st International Conductors Competition- Augsburg will take place in the historic Bavarian city between the 2nd July and the 7th July, with competitors required to showcase their outstanding talents in directing a Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Brass Band, Orchestra and Armed Forces Concert Band.
The competition has no age restriction, whilst competitors will be helped by communication throughout in both English and German
Lifetime opportunity
A spokesperson told 4BR: "This is an amazing opportunity for conductors to test themselves at the very highest level — and to showcase their versatility and understanding of different musical ensembles.
The prestige that will come from winning the event is immense, with numerous opportunities to develop an exciting, diverse conducting career. We welcome conductors from any musical background for what will be the opportunity of a lifetime."
Repertoire and ensembles
The first round will see competitors the renowned Symphonic wind orchestra of Augsburg University's Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum, whilst the second round will see them tackle repertoire with the Bayerische Brass Band Akademie (3BA).
Semi-finalists will be conduct the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra, with the finalists taking the podium to direct the acclaimed Concert Band of the German Armed Forces.

It includes such works as 'Fantasy Tales' (Piet Swerts) and 'Vita Aeterna Variations' (Alexander Comitas) for symphonic wind and brass bands, as well as 'Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche' and 'Don Juan' by Richard Strauss for orchestra.
