Before their final contest appearance together at the recent North West Regional Championships in Blackpool, the Uppermill Band made a special presentation to their long standing MD, Alan Widdop.

Memorable

During his 12 year tenure as Musical Director he led Uppermill to a host of memorable successes, as well as promotion from the Fourth to the First Section.

Band Manager John Ward made the presentation following a resume of Alan's successes, which out of 80 contest appearances included 22 victories and 40 podium finishes — and an 80% top-six finish rate.

Amongst these were an unprecedented four Pontins Championship victories (above).
