The 2016 Welsh contesting season will kick off in fine style in Porthcawl on Saturday 20th February, when a record cross-border field of 14 bands will battle it out for the Welsh Open Entertainment title.
Popularity
The contest has grown in popularity since its inception in 1998 and attracts a packed audience to the famous Grand Pavilion on the town's bracing seafront (above).
With a generous prize fund and the chance to win lift the wonderful CISWO Challenge Trophy, 14 contenders will make the trip hoping to impress adjudicator Ian Brownbill.
Competitors
The competing bands are:
A.W.Parker (Drybrook), BTM, Burry Port Town, Cinderford, City of Cardiff (Melingriffith), Ebbw Valley, Filton Concert, Lewis Merthyr, Llwydcoed, Parc & Dare, Pontardulais Town, Staines Brass, Tongwynlais Temperance, Tylorstown.
